Volunteers must be 18+ for most roles. Youth Volunteers may be able to participate when accompanied by an adult, depending on the Volunteer Program Area.
All volunteer activities are managed through the POINT Volunteer Management platform. You’ll use POINT to select your Volunteer Program Area preferences, and our team will work to make sure every area is fully staffed. Because some areas have limited openings, you may not be assigned to your first choice—but we’ll do our best to match you with a role that fits your interests and availability.
Volunteer Program Area sign-ups open in mid-February. You’ll be able to select your preferences in POINT starting then.
Yes—please do! We love when friends volunteer together. It builds fellowship, boosts the fun, and makes the whole weekend feel like a shared adventure.
Yes. We’ll have a variety of roles available, including options that are less physically demanding. We want you here, and we’ll work with you to find a great fit.
Volunteer Program Area commitment assignment confirmations will be finalized in May and June, followed by Area-specific onboarding and training activities.
Yes—some Areas allow for one-day commitments, and others support multiple days. It mostly depends on the Volunteer Program Area. We also have behind-the-scenes roles you can do before Ride weekend, like helping with logistics, admin, or volunteer support.
Depending on your Volunteer Program Area, shifts typically range from 4 to 8 hours per day.
You can update your preferences in POINT at any time before onboarding and training begins for your assigned area. If you’ve already been onboarded for a specific area and need to cancel or request a swap, please contact Recovery Ride staff at cccrecoveryride@gmail.com
No—background checks are not required.
All Volunteers must sign a liability release. You’ll complete this during the onboarding and training process in May and June.
Yes. Recovery Ride staff can verify Volunteer hours for anyone who requests it.
Recovery Ride staff will help facilitate transportation where we can. Some Volunteers will be encouraged to carpool, some roles may include use of Ride vehicles, and we may ask some Volunteers to use their own vehicle to transport supplies.
Most communications before the Ride will happen through the POINT app, which uses both email and SMS. Ride staff may also communicate directly with Volunteers via email and text for individual updates.
During Ride weekend, updates will be shared through a community engagement app that Volunteers will be invited to join in September. For urgent updates, we may also send text messages.
Recovery Ride Staff will share the Volunteer Code of Conduct during onboarding and training as we finalize Ride weekend protocols. The short version: show up with kindness, respect, good judgment, and a spirit of service—because we’re building recovery in motion together.
Yes. Volunteers are welcome to camp at basecamp in Guerneville, and tents will be provided.
Yes. Meals and snacks will be provided each day for Volunteers. Because Ride weekend is dynamic, there aren’t formal “lunch breaks”—instead, Volunteers can grab food when it fits their shift and responsibilities.
Yes. We’ll have a medical team on duty for medical situations and safety issues throughout Ride weekend.
In some instances, yes. If your role requires driving your own vehicle, we’ll share the reimbursement approach and any documentation requirements during onboarding. Reimbursements are not offered for transportation to and from basecamp.
Ask first—always. We love consent. Please get permission before taking or sharing photos, and be especially mindful in recovery spaces.
In the event of extreme rain, the Ride may be cancelled. If the Ride is cancelled, we will notify Volunteers no later than three days before the Ride’s scheduled to start.
There are two great ways to help fundraise:
Share the Recovery Ride fundraising page with friends, family, and colleagues via email, text, and social media—and invite them to support your favorite Rider.
Fundraise in your own name by creating a fundraising page on the Recovery Ride site, sharing your story (including your connection to recovery or community), and inviting your friends, family, and colleagues to support your fundraising goal.
